If we were there for 2 weeks might have hired a car for a few days to get into the mountains but not necessary. Each review score is between 1-10. ![]() Chania town is amazing, 30 mins on the very regular buses, and a great place to get a cultural and historical taste of Western Crete. Easy to get to on the bus and good for travelling to other places. Maleme itself is a very quiet place and doesnt have a lively night life. There are enough restaurants and tavernas to choose from, all providing good Cretan food, and a big supermarket just a 7 minute walk away if you want to cook your own food. Its a really easy going, laid back environment, with very good size rooms that are kept very clean. ![]() He really looked after everyone and included us all in a very low key, caring way - several late nights spent chatting, philosophising and talking football around the pool bar, with just a little Raki to ease conversation!. The owner Yanis went out of his way to make everyone feel so very welcome. As well as couples of all ages, friends, etc there was also a number of single people staying there that week. Ive just spent a lovely relaxing week at Hotel Alexandros with my (grown up) son. But a nice accommodation, nice pool, very friendly and helpful staff and just first class host, so alltogether, absolutely fabulous!… If you really want to find something negative to say so the bed rooms get perhaps too warm when there is AC only in sitting room and if you possibly would like to watch tv (I don't think you want), you don't find any English speaking channels. Everything is near, even the bus stop, if Maleme is too quiet to your taste it is easy to make a trip to Platanias and then you will be happy to return. A short way down the street is the beach and beach tavernas if you prefer wilder waves. The pool is nice and clean, you can stay by the pool side all the day, just relaxing, having some snacks and drinks from pool side bar. And the host is just perfect, does everything for you, more you could ever expect. Rooms are kept clean, sheets and towels changed often enough. Everything is working and if you need something extra, it is only to ask, the staff is most helpful. During our stay we watched the game Finland (where we're from) won Greece in Athens 1-0 - and Ouzo for the Finns it was! :) We do recommend Hotel Alexandros M from the bottom of our hearts!…Īlexandros M apartments are basic but you find everything you need. There's also a pool bar next to it, where football games on TV can be enjoyed with friends and other hotel guests. The brother of the hotel owner tends it with love, and hopes it to be found and used by football lovers like himself. The hotel provides green football field for guests to enjoy in their back yard. It was an unforgettable and heart warming moment we shared with her, I can assure you. We lighted up candles for Maria in the church named after her and met a lovely grandmother Maria in a local restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. For example we were able to attend the village party in honor of Maria mother of Jesus. He took us around to see the sights and some authentic local restaurant, as well to meet up with some lovely local people. He's such a funny guy - if you're looking for some laughter therapy, this hotel is your choice. ![]() It's impossible to find man with bigger heart. What a great holiday we had! Lots of great food, beach and warmth - perhaps even little too much of warmth but luckily the sea was there to cool us off :) Words fail to praise the Hotel Alexandros M and it's owner Mr. Hotels near Apostolakis Handmade Ceramics.
